Midnight Special... Because it takes place at night... and the kid is retarded
I love Sci-fi
I also love it when Sci-fi takes place in a time similar from now or actually in the past, as we always associate Sci-fi being extremely unrealistic and in the Future...
Midnight Special...
I saw a trailer for this film a few years ago and thought... "Wow... That looks like it could be a little bit good!"
I then forgot about it...
UNTIL
It came out on Netflix last week.
So knowing that this could be a really good film I turned off the lights, shut the window, closed thee curtains and strapped on some noise cancelling headphones for the FULL experience.
I was not disappointed
AND IT GAVE ME LIKE A TON OF INSPIRATION FOR MY STORY PROJECT
And most of that was in the camera work
And it backed up a theory that I have been working on in the musical side of the film.
I won't ruin the story because it is good...
But I will say that if you like Stranger Things... which I don't blame you for the first series was pretty fucking good and the 2nd series was ironically nearly just a good... you will like this, because its basically a 2 hour long version of that but set in current time.
I loved the Camera work in this film
the lighting always stuck with the dark blues of a late night or early morning, with the occasional flash of yellow and orange in the more aesthetic shots.
The music also kept the same note throughout the film... Only the melody and the tempo changed when it came to the main story... this would change during different parts of the film. A runaway or tense scene would be faster paced where as the "Last scene" is much slower and more emphasis is put on that one note...
Also Adam driver is in it...
