Leggings and tights...
This blog post is going to more of a question rather than an answer as it is a subject in sportswear that confuses me deeply.
Leggings/tights nowadays are made for both men and women. However you very rarely see men wearing them in relation to women.
This subject is leggings and tights amongst women and men....
In the past tights have been seen as an item of clothing only worn by women in majority and only a few men who needed them for certain activities such as bobsleigh racing and skiing.
Leggings/tights nowadays are made for both men and women. However you very rarely see men wearing them in relation to women.
For example here is a random screenshot from Pinterest when you type in Sports wear...
Notice anything?
It seems that leggings in this time are much more a fashion accessory for women than to men.
I think i could even go as far as saying that they could be seen as iconic for this age in 20 years or so. It seems like they are the only thing women wear when they are going to the gym or going for a run etc...
But here's the thing as a Man I actually have a few pairs of leggings and they are actually my favourite item of clothing.
Why?
They keep your legs warm and compact and they also allow for maximum flexibility which a pair of shorts might prevent as they are usually made of a stiffer material.
My favourite pair that I currently own however are my Under Armour no breaks leggings.
I like these leggings as the fit is amazing and really grips to the shape of your legs. I also like the clean black design and almost gives off a stealthy vibe.
However in saying this my favourite pair of leggings that I am thinking of getting are the Reebok Spartan Leggings:
I like these leggings simply due to the aesthetic design. I like the attention to detail on the right thigh and the grey shins/knees. Reebok make a ton of other Leggings which use a lot more colour which I am also a massive fan of and they make colourful means leggings look amazing. Normally coloured leggings again are made for women.
And again I don't know why this is... Is it because men would rather not be seen in leggings so when they do get some they don't get any in bright colours as they are more noticeable.
Here are some examples...
