John Danaher and Jiu Jitsu

So in my experience of Mixed martial arts I have never really focused on my ground game i.e Wrestling or Jiu Jitsu. Like in sparring I've never had any serious problems on the ground. It might be because whenever me and my brother would fight there wouldn't be any striking it was always on the ground... and I would always win, because I was older and heavier.
But still I got the core message.

But mainly in sparring I stay standing, and use my long reach and kicks.

It's only been until recently that I realised that I might of been a bit stupid in not considering on improving my grappling.
Whenever I go to the ground in sparring there is normally about a minute of rolling followed by either me bringing the fight back to its feet or either me being placed in a guillotine like 90% of the time. It's also weird because my ability in avoiding and making take downs is actually one of my strongest aspects. It's just when I'm on the floor I have no idea what I'm doing I just use hip turns and hope for the best.

So I was looking for a way to avoid this because it isn't the nicest way to go to sleep
trust me
scented candles with a warm bed and an ASMR video is much better than lying on a mat with someone literally squeezing the life out of you.

I needed someone to look up to in terms of the grappling side of the fight game
This is when I found John Danaher a Jiu Jitsu teacher from New Zealand.
I listened to a 3 hour long podcast of him talking to Joe Rogan about the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu and I don't think I've ever been more surprised in how interested I was.
I would listen to them talk whilst I was toiling my jeans in the fashion studio.
I'll leave a link here if just to pretend that people are interested...

One of my favourite points that they brought up was leg locks in MMA and Jiu Jitsu
I have personally had no experience with leg locks, I haven't ever attempted them, and I've never been leg locked either so when I heard John talk about them it was really interesting.
"Why would you ignore fifty percent of the human body"
Holy shit
It was like a sudden realisation. It's so bloody obvious as well. Like the legs are the base for everything.

Now I just need to find a good Jiu Jitsu coach to help give me the core concept and then some...
