Shirt cuff workshop (with some other stuff)

Today we focused on how to make a shirt cuff, for a ummm
for a shirt.

Yea

I don't know why but I always find the sewing part really difficult, just when it comes to figuring out how the garment goes together. Like it can folded, cut, Sewn on either side, folded again, rolled, twisted, scrunched, folded yet again or layed on top of another material... before being rolled again.

We also learned about how different foot's on the sewing machines could be used, due to the characteristics of different materials... e.g. fluffy materials tend to cause more friction and will build up unless you use a tethlon... tethelon... telethon foot...
I'm sure one of those spellings would be correct
Imagine if it was a completely different material than tethlon!
That would be twice the embarrassment.

I particuarly liked making the puffer jacket style sample.
I always thought they were stuffed but as it turns out you can just buy these sheets of wool like material and just sew patterns into that to make it seem extra squishy
So hugs are almost always more present when the opposite party is wearing a puffer jacket on a cold winters day...

shame they make you look like the michelin man...
