Finisterre customer research (the struggle)
Right.
So after getting a taste for the Internets strong opinions on a surfing forum had decided to keep the design focused on what the actual surfing garment was meant to do in the first place, which was to allow women in Iran to be able to surf with ease without breaking the confinement of their religion of having to wear a hijab.
However here is the problem
I can't find any female Iranian surfers to chat to online, which is a bit of a brick wall to say the least. But I have a feeling that this brick wall could be climbable so that doesn't mean I'm simply going to just walk around it by dropping the customer feedback completely or by rushing it and smashing through it and not doing a very good job at it.
I've been using social media mainly but in a filtered way, by only looking for specific pages or groups that I can contact. I don't want to just message a random person from out of no where because there needs to be a trust barrier in which for example... would you trust a stranger who just randomly messages you from out of no where? especially if they are not used to it.
With a page or a group however you are asking a group of people. So not only do you get a more diverse but accurate result, but they also might feel like they can answer to a stranger because they aren't asking them in particular.

However I have got the next best thing potentially lined up tomorrow.
Because would you believe it the very person who started all this Easkey Britton is actually coming to Falmouth tomorrow to the Finisterre outlet in town!
I have to give a shout out to Ellie who actually emailed her (Which I didn't do for some bloody reason) who found out that this was happening.
So I would see this as a massive missed opportunity if I were to miss this event. I'm definitely going to ask some questions along the lines of, what it was like to surf in a country where no one really had done before especially being female and also a question on the ethnic and cultural boundaries that I will have to limit myself to to make sure that the pattern that I design isn't offensive in any way.
But this will give me AMAZING information, and I actually get to meet a genuinely interesting person.
Can't wait
Also if I do miss this then I will never forgive myself.
No excuses
