Easkey Britton at Falmouth Finisterre

This evening I had the pleasure of attending a Q and A with Easkey Britton at the Finisterre outlet in Falmouth.
In this event she and two other people from the company mainly spoke about issues surrounding surf wear for women in general. Which for me was incredibly eye opening as I had no idea that this was such an issue! Its a massive issue around body image and how people want to look whilst they are in the water. It seems that Wet suits seem to act as a suit of armour for some people when it comes to revealing their flesh, because some people prefer to be covered. Even if it is really sunny people will prefer to wear a wet suit as it isn't as revealing.
I guess I find this difficult to understand as whenever I have been surfing in hot weather I have been in just my trunks. But when I was little my mum did not let me go out in the water with my skin exposed to the sun as my skin is very pale so I get sun burnt very easily. So I would find myself wearing swimming with a shirt on with water proof sun cream which I really fucking hated. So as I grew older and I was eventually able to outrun my own mother to get to the beach without being doused in oiling sun cream, I could go in the sea just in my trunks... only problem is the sun is an absolute arsehole so I would come home with skin redder than my hair.

She also spoke about the cover up project a little bit which for me was quite cool as I knew that this was something that I am technically involved in and I realised "hey... I'm actually on that project... OH MY GOD THIS IS BASICALLY MY FIRST PROFESSIONAL PROJECT (sort of)"
She also spoke about how sensitive the culture is in Iran where it was seen as a very bad thing to not be wearing a burka AND if the female body was shown in any way, even the outline of the limbs... So it seems my tattoo style idea might not be the best move after all, as it might be seen as offensive.
