200,000 years ago before clothes, before houses, before the governments, humans were more animals than a working society as the rest of nature. Humans hunted for their prey using their dominant intelligence to hunt in packs and to use tools which later turned into weapons.
The human body had evolved to be an amazing long distance machine being capable of running down their prey until they simply couldn't run anymore.

The perfect predator...
Apart from actual predator that dude can turn invisible and humans clearly don't match up

 

I'm off topic 

My point is that before humans allowed their dominant minds to dominate the entire planet they had to rely on their naked raw bodies to survive. A body that has been perfected over millions of years of evolution. 

So why try to enhance it with running shoes? 

To be honest I'm okay with wearing shoes with thick soles from day to day life but its only with running and forms of exercise that confuses me. 

Surely we would want to harness our predator instincts to run faster in a barefoot forefoot striking style. 

That's why the Vibram 5 fingers is one of the most unique looking of shoes yet it is the most natural. 

 

Whenever I go for a run I can never help but feel guilty to myself that I am simply not utilising the full toolkit of my body. 

I cant feel the ground beneath my feet and my toes don't spread out as they land. 

I've wanted a pair of Vibrams for around a year and a half now the only thing that has stopped me is price with a decent pair setting you back a cool £75.  

Clearly something that I'll need to save my penny's for. 

when I get a pair (trust me I will) I will be blogging about them straight away. I need to have that barefoot run experience. Feel like a force in nature rather than a force running through it.
